Castillo de Canena’s Biodynamic Picual is the Picual of a Jaén family estate farmed biodynamically, a form of agriculture that sees the olive grove as a living organism and not merely as a factory of olives.
It keeps the character of the variety, with its green fruitiness, bitterness and pepperiness, and adds a balance that reflects the care given to the land at every stage.
It comes in a 500 ml bottle, on its own or in boxes of 6, 12 or 24.

Castillo de Canena, in Jaén
Castillo de Canena is a family company in Jaén that controls the whole process, from tree to bottle, on a historic estate beside the Renaissance castle that gives it its name. Part of its groves are farmed under the principles of biodynamic agriculture, which seeks a balance between soil, plants and animals.
In biodynamics, the soil is fed with compost made on the estate and tasks follow nature’s rhythms. The aim is a healthy grove, able to sustain itself with the resources of its own surroundings, and that is where this Biodynamic Picual comes from.
Where biodynamic Picual shines
- Bread with tomato.
- Gazpacho and salmorejo.
- Grilled meats.
- Pulse stews.
- Roast vegetables.
Its Picual character suits the bold flavours of Jaén cooking. A generous raw drizzle over broad beans or a pipirrana salad shows its full temperament.
Biodynamic Picual in a 500 ml bottle

Half a litre of biodynamic Picual lasts several weeks, always with the oil at its best. The bottle protects the oil and looks good on the table.
It is sold on its own or in boxes of 6, 12 or 24 bottles, made for anyone who likes a stock in the pantry. It keeps best in a cool, dark place.
