Dry-farmed Arbequina in Les Garrigues
What most defines this Arbequina is how it evolves on the palate: it starts sweet, continues with a light bitterness and ends with a gradual pepperiness. It is an oil almost everyone likes and which, in quantity, allows generous cooking without giving up an organic PDO.
Les Garrigues is a dry-farming district in southern Lleida, of stony land and scarce rainfall, where Arbequina is almost the only variety. The PDO protects the oils born in that austere landscape.
Molí d’Alcanó, part of Grup Fruits de Ponent, mills organic olives from the Segrià and Les Garrigues to make this single-variety oil, without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers in the grove.
Cooking every day with L’Or de Ponent Arbequina
- Bread with tomato.
- Seasonal salads.
- Fish and seafood.
- Roasts and oven-baked vegetables.
The large jug does not change the oil: the same Les Garrigues Arbequina, with its tomato note and gradual pepperiness, reaches the kitchen in enough quantity to use it without measuring every drop.
With five litres, this oil also moves into cooking: oven-roasted vegetables, fish baked in salt or a gentle sofrito for a rice dish. Raw, over a seasonal tomato salad, it regains all its aroma.
The 5-litre jug

The five-litre jug is the most practical option for families who cook every day or for anyone wanting a supply of organic oil for months. The kitchen cruet is easily refilled from it.
It keeps best tightly closed, away from light and heat sources. For smaller consumption there is the two-litre jug.
