Tasting Oro del Desierto Lechín
In the table bottle, Oro del Desierto’s Lechín shows its most delicate profile: mild fruitiness, hints of nuts and apricot, barely suggested bitterness and a light pepperiness at the end.
It is an oil that invites tasting on its own, on a piece of white bread, to appreciate nuances rarely found in olive oil.
Those used to intense Picual oils will find another face of extra virgin here: sweet, friendly and surprising, ideal for sharing at a family tasting.
A rarity from the Tabernas desert
Lechín is a traditional variety of southern Spain rarely bottled on its own. Oro del Desierto grows it organically in Tabernas, in an arid landscape of intense light, and makes it separately to preserve its character.
The dry climate and farming without synthetic chemicals give a healthy olive, from which this sweet, fruity oil is born. The mill, recognised with numerous awards, thus champions the diversity of Spanish olive groves.
How to enjoy Oro del Desierto Lechín
- White bread and toast.
- Salads with fruit.
- Fresh and goat’s cheeses.
- Simple desserts.
Its sweetness shines in a rocket salad with figs and walnuts, a warm goat’s cheese or yoghurt with honey. On freshly made toast, it leaves a very pleasant memory of apricot.
It is also an intriguing oil to give to someone who already knows the common varieties and wants something new.
In baking it adds a subtle fruity note to sponge cakes, olive oil biscuits or a simple orange cake, where its apricot hints feel completely natural.
Oro del Desierto Lechín: the 500 ml bottle

The dark bottle protects the oil from light and looks good on the table with its emblem. Half a litre allows a few weeks of raw enjoyment, the oil always fresh.
It is sold on its own or in cases of 6, 12 or 24 bottles. For cooking there is the one-litre tin.
