Tasting Oro del Desierto Arbequina
Oro del Desierto’s Arbequina stands out for its delicacy and gentleness on the palate. Its fruity, balanced profile makes it the perfect complement to salads, fish and dishes that call for a subtle touch.
The dry, bright climate of Tabernas gives the olives a character of their own that shows in this oil.
Olive trees in the desert
Oro del Desierto is a family company in Tabernas (Almería), a place with more than 3000 hours of sunshine a year and no sudden temperature changes, where it farms organic olive groves. The olives are picked and milled within hours, and the oil is cold extracted.
It shows how organic farming can adapt to extreme landscapes without giving up quality.
How to enjoy Oro del Desierto Arbequina
- White fish.
- Salads.
- Steamed vegetables.
- Baking.
- Gentle toast.
Its gentleness makes it ideal for the most delicate dishes, where an intense oil would mask the flavours. Over grilled fish or a salad of tender leaves, it adds a very pleasant fruity freshness.
It is remarkable that one of the most arid landscapes in Europe is home to an organic grove able to produce such a delicate oil. Constant sunshine and the absence of frost and big temperature swings favour healthy olives, making it possible to farm without synthetic chemicals or aggressive treatments.
Oro del Desierto Arbequina: the 500 ml bottle

Half a litre is the size of the household cruet: it is used daily and finished before the oil loses freshness. It is sold on its own or in boxes of 6, 12 or 24 bottles, practical for keeping a supply or for gifts.
It keeps best tightly closed, in a cool place protected from light, away from the stove. Opening one bottle at a time keeps the rest sealed and fresh, so the last bottle in the box tastes just like the first.
To get the most from it, taste it raw first, on bread or a simple salad, and then in the kitchen: a good oil shows as much when finishing a dish as when cooking over gentle heat. It is best enjoyed in the months after opening, while its aromas are intact.
